The Cat and the Mouse

Legendary Tales

A legendary tale of heroes, gods, and quests that have echoed through the ages.

In a bright, joyful village filled with dancing flowers and sparkling streams, lived a brave little Mouse and a clever Cat. They were the best of friends, playing hide and seek among the daisies and sharing crunchy snacks beneath the warm sun. One day, the wise Jade Emperor announced the Great Race! Excitement bubbled like soda, as all the animals rushed to prepare. The first twelve to cross the grand river would have their names written in a magical calendar that would last forever!

Mouse and Cat looked at each other, their eyes wide with hope. “Let’s win together!” they squeaked, but then they remembered — neither of them could swim! An idea bounced in Mouse’s head like a bouncing ball. “Let’s ask the strong Ox for help!”

The gentle Ox, with muscles like mountains, agreed to carry them on race day. As they splashed into the rushing river, the water roared like a great dragon! Cat and Mouse held tightly onto Ox’s broad back, but soon Mouse began to worry. They were slow, and other animals sped past like shooting stars!

Suddenly, a sneaky thought crept into Mouse’s mind. “What if I could be the first?” With a quick push, Mouse tumbled Cat into the chilly river with a splash! “YOWWWL!” Cat cried, splashing in a panic. Mouse watched in a mix of horror and excitement as he dashed ahead with Ox, crossing the finish line first!

Cheers erupted from the crowd, but Mouse’s joy faded when he saw Cat, soaked and furious, searching for him from the riverbank. The thrill of victory felt heavy in his heart as he realized the terrible cost of his choice. From that day on, their friendship changed forever, a bittersweet reminder that some treasures are worth far more than glory.
