The Three Thieves

Moral Stories

A heartwarming moral story with a lesson that stays with you forever.

On a shadowy night, when not even a single star twinkled in the sky, three sneaky thieves tiptoed through an open window of a grand merchant's house. They moved like shadows, creeping softly through the fancy rooms until they discovered a big, heavy bag filled with shiny gold coins that sparkled like the sun! Bursting with excitement, they laughed and scampered into the forest, clutching their treasure tightly.

As dawn painted the world in soft pinks and oranges, the trio settled beneath a massive, ancient tree whose branches stretched like welcoming arms. "Let’s count the gold!" the leader said, rubbing his hands together eagerly. But first, he sighed dramatically, "We’re so hungry! One of us should get some food from the village." The youngest thief, eager to impress, jumped up, "I’ll go!" He grabbed a handful of coins and dashed down the winding path to the bustling village.

As he walked, a mischievous thought crept into his mind. "What if the others don’t come back? All the treasure would be mine!" Heart racing, he quickly bought three yummy meals but, in a twist of greed, he mixed poison into two of them before hurrying back.

Meanwhile, the other two thieves were whispering, "What if the youngest doesn’t return? We could keep everything!" They picked up heavy stones and hid behind a boulder, waiting for their friend to arrive. When the youngest approached, they sprang out, shouting, "Surprise!" They knocked him down, laughing as they snatched the food from his hands.

Confused and weak, the youngest couldn’t protest as the two greedy thieves gobbled up the poisoned meals with glee. Crunch! Munch! But soon, their laughter faded, and they fell to the soft forest floor, silent and still. The great trees stood watch, witnessing the hush that enveloped the scene.

Hours later, a wandering traveler stumbled upon the three thieves, their dreams of gold vanished like morning mist. With a heavy heart, he gathered the shining coins and returned them to the grateful merchant, sharing the tale of the greedy thieves throughout the village. The forest returned to its playful sounds, but the story lingered in whispers, reminding everyone that greed can lead to unexpected endings.
