On a chilly gray morning, a hungry Wolf tiptoed through the quiet village. The air was crisp, and the leaves whispered secrets as they danced in the wind. Suddenly, he heard a soft sound—a baby crying! “Waaah! Waaah!” went the little one, and Wolf’s ears perked up with curiosity. He crept closer to a cozy cottage, his nose twitching as he listened.
Inside, a gentle mother’s voice floated through the window. “Be quiet, or I will throw you to the Wolf!” Wolf's heart raced with excitement. “Did she say throw the baby to me? Oh, what a tasty dinner that would be!” he thought, rubbing his paws together. He hid beneath the window, his big eyes sparkling with anticipation. What a feast awaited him!
As the baby cried on, Wolf settled in, confident he could wait. The sun climbed higher, bathing the garden in warm light. Wolf’s stomach grumbled like thunder, and his legs began to ache, but he remained perfectly still. Minutes turned into hours. The baby finally stopped crying, and outside, the world burst into bright colors, with birds chirping and butterflies fluttering by.
At last, just as the sun dipped low, Wolf heard the mother’s soft voice again, now sweet like a lullaby. “Do not fear, my little one. No wolf will come. You are safe here with me,” she sang, rocking her baby to sleep. Wolf blinked, confusion washing over him. The mother never meant to feed him! He had wasted the whole day waiting for something that was never going to happen.
Just then, the cottage door creaked open, and out came the farmer, his face fierce with determination, followed by two barking dogs! The dogs spotted Wolf and barked like thunder. Panic surged through him as he turned and ran, his heart racing faster than his feet. He dashed into the forest, where the trees whispered words of encouragement. Finally safe, he panted, realizing that waiting for something not meant for him had only left him hungry and embarrassed.
From that day on, Wolf promised to listen closely to the words around him, ready to embrace the adventures that lay ahead, wiser and a little more careful.
