In a bright and bustling forest filled with singing birds and fluttering butterflies, there lived a crafty Wolf named Wally. Wally was known for his clever tricks, but one fateful day, he faced a powerful bear and got hurt. Limping away from the fray, he found a soft patch of grass beside a winding path, where he lay down, panting like a big, tired dragon. To anyone who passed by, Wally looked weak and pitiful, but inside, his mind was spinning with sneaky thoughts.
Just then, a fluffy little Sheep named Sally, with her wool sparkling like fresh snow, trotted along the path on her way to a glimmering stream for a sip of cool water. When she spotted Wally, her heart fluttered with concern. "Oh dear! What happened to you?" she called, her voice as sweet as honey.
Wally saw his chance. He put on his saddest face and groaned, "Oh, kind Sally! I’m so thirsty and hurt. Please, could you fetch me some water? I promise I’ll feel better and maybe even share a snack!"
Sally hesitated, her ears twitching as she thought. She noticed Wally’s sharp teeth glinting in the sunlight, and a tiny shiver raced down her woolly back. "But what snack will you want when you’re better? Not something like… me?" she asked, her eyes wide.
Wally sighed dramatically, trying to charm her. "Oh no! I would never harm you, dear friend!" But in his eyes, a mischievous spark flickered.
Sally took a step back, her heart pounding like a drum. "Your injury might be real, but so is your nature. I can’t help if it puts me at risk!" With that, she turned and skipped away toward the stream, feeling proud of her cleverness.
As the sun dipped low, painting the sky with hues of orange and pink, Wally learned a valuable lesson. Looking weak doesn’t mean one is harmless. And Sally, with her bright heart and quick wits, understood how important it is to trust her instincts and stay safe from those who wear a mask of pity. She happily sipped from the cool stream, feeling wise and ready for any adventure that came her way.
