Inside, Pearl shared her delicious lunch of sandwiches and juicy apples. “Thank you, dear child,” the woman said, her face lighting up with a warm smile. “For your kindness, I will show you something magical!”
They stepped outside to a barnyard bursting with wonders. Chickens wore crowns of diamonds, rabbits roasted marshmallows while telling tall tales, and colorful eggs shouted, “Take me! Take me!” But at the far end, plain white eggs sat quietly. “Only choose the silent ones,” the old woman whispered. Pearl felt a thrill of adventure and nodded.
She picked the quiet eggs and tossed them over her shoulder. With each POP, magical gifts appeared—a shimmering dress, a treasure chest of gold, a majestic horse with a golden mane, and a charming little house smelling of roses!
Meanwhile, Ivy watched from the shadows, her eyes filled with jealousy. She dashed into the forest, determined to snatch her own treasures. “Out of my way, old lady!” she shouted, ignoring the quiet eggs. Instead, she grabbed the loudest, glittering ones that yelled, “TAKE ME!”
With a wild throw, she unleashed chaos! Hissing snakes slithered out, muddy toads hopped everywhere, and thorny vines pricked her arms. Ivy yelped and ran home, muddy and stung, feeling foolish for ignoring the old woman’s wise words.
When she reached home, she found Pearl radiant in her beautiful dress, surrounded by her magical treasures. Pearl smiled gently, and for the first time, Ivy felt a spark of understanding.
