Once upon a time, in a sun-drenched farm near a cheerful village, there were two playful young calves named Big Red and Little Red. Every day, they trotted through the fields, pulling heavy carts and plowing the earth under the warm, glowing sun. Their muscles grew big and strong, and their coats sparkled like polished rubies. But when the sun dipped below the horizon, they returned home to feast on plain grass and crunchy hay. Simple, yes, but oh-so-nourishing!
Not far from them, in a cozy pen, lived a rotund little pig named Percy. Percy was the master of comfort! He spent his days luxuriating in the sun while the farmer’s family spoiled him with mountains of sweet rice, creamy porridge, and juicy fruits that made his tummy rumble with pure delight. What a life!
One evening, after a long, tiring day, Little Red stomped his hooves in frustration. “It’s not fair!” he snorted loudly. “We work so hard while that lazy pig gets to feast like a king!” Big Red, wise beyond his years, comforted his brother. “Don’t let jealousy cloud your heart, Little Red.”
“But he doesn’t do anything!” Little Red cried, eyes wide with disbelief. With a knowing smile, Big Red leaned in closer. “What he eats may seem amazing, but it’s not what you think. There’s a wedding coming soon, and guess who will be the star of the feast?”
Little Red’s heart raced. “You mean… the pig will be the meal?” he gasped. Big Red nodded, his gaze serious. “Our simple grass keeps us strong and free, while Percy’s lavish meals lead him to a fate we should never envy.”
As days passed, excitement stirred on the farm. Guests arrived with laughter and music, filling the air with joy. The sky sparkled with colors, and the scents of delicious food danced around. Then, the moment arrived—the farmer’s family whisked Percy away, and he never returned. The joyful sounds turned to whispers as everyone gathered around the feast.
Little Red stared at the grass before him, now shining with newfound value. He slowly munched on the hay, savoring every bite, and whispered to Big Red, “Thank you, Brother.” With hearts warm and full, the two calves ventured back to the fields, ready to work together under the sun, grateful for their freedom and strength. In that moment, they truly understood what happiness meant.
