In a vibrant forest bursting with emerald trees and sparkling streams, there lived a kind Brahmin. One sunny afternoon, while wandering along a twisty path, he heard a faint whimpering sound tugging at his heart. “Help me! Please! I’m stuck!” cried a desperate voice from behind some thick bushes. Curious and concerned, the Brahmin tiptoed closer and gasped at what he saw—a magnificent tiger trapped in a rusty iron cage! His golden fur glimmered like sunshine, but his eyes were filled with sadness.
“Oh, dear friend!” the tiger pleaded, his voice shaky. “I’ve been trapped here for three days! I am so hungry! Please let me out!” The Brahmin felt a wave of pity wash over him. “I can’t just leave him here,” he thought, and with a brave heart, he unlocked the cage.
As soon as the door swung open, the tiger stretched and yawned, revealing sharp, gleaming teeth. “Thank you, kind Brahmin! Now that I’m free, I’m going to eat you!” he said, licking his lips. The Brahmin’s heart raced. “But you promised!” he cried, stepping back in fear.
Thinking quickly, the Brahmin suggested, “Let’s ask three judges who’s right!” The tiger agreed, and they first approached a wise old tree. “Humans are ungrateful! Let the tiger eat him!” the tree rustled. Next, they visited a dusty old road that groaned, “Eat the Brahmin! Humans are the worst!” Finally, a grumpy buffalo stomped, “Let the tiger feast! Humans never show gratitude!”
Just when the Brahmin felt hopeless, he spotted a clever jackal lounging nearby. “What’s going on?” the jackal asked. The Brahmin explained quickly, “I freed the tiger, and now he wants to eat me!”
“Wait a minute!” the jackal said, ears perked. “So, the Brahmin was in the cage?”
“No!” roared the tiger. “The TIGER was in the cage!”
“But how could such a big tiger fit into a tiny cage?” the jackal asked, scratching his head. “I can't imagine that!”
“It’s easy! Watch!” the tiger boasted, strutting back to the cage to demonstrate. But before he could finish, the jackal leaped into action! CLANG! He slammed the door shut and locked it with a click. “Now you stay put!” winked the jackal at the Brahmin, who sighed in relief.
Together, the clever jackal and the kind Brahmin strolled away, leaving the growling tiger behind. The sun shone brighter, and the forest felt full of magic as they made their way home, knowing that sometimes, a little cleverness is just what you need to keep kindness safe.
