High up in the sparkling mountains, where fluffy clouds twirled around the peaks and the golden sun kissed the rocks, there was a winding path that looked like a playful ribbon. This special path was often traveled by a wise Master and his trusty Donkey, who had explored it many times before. The journey down the cliffside was always filled with wonder, but today, something was different.
As the bright sun beamed down, the Donkey gazed longingly at the lush, green valley below. His imagination danced like butterflies, whispering sweet dreams of his cozy stable filled with fresh hay and his favorite crunchy carrots. “This path is too slow!” he brayed, his stubborn spirit sparking. “Look over there! That edge seems much quicker!” With a defiant shake of his head and a flick of his long ears, the Donkey pranced toward the cliff's edge, ignoring the gentle tug of the rope connecting him to his Master.
“Stop, my friend!” the Master called, his voice calm yet firm. “The path is safe!” But the Donkey was determined, believing he could take the shortcut. He pulled and kicked at the stones, eager for adventure. Suddenly, the Master felt the rope tugging wildly. “That’s not a road; it’s a fall!” he cried, planting his feet on the ground.
With a mighty bray, the Donkey took two proud steps forward, feeling like a brave knight. But just as he reveled in his imagined glory, the ground crumbled beneath him! Down he tumbled, rolling and bouncing like a loose ball of hay! He landed, with a soft thud, in a prickly thorn bush at the bottom.
Dazed and a bit sore, the Donkey shook off the leaves and looked up to see his Master walking along the safe path, a mix of concern and calm on his face. When the Master reached him, he knelt down and smiled gently. “Was the shortcut worth it?” he asked, tilting his head thoughtfully.
Feeling embarrassed, the Donkey got to his feet and followed his Master back home, his heart a little heavier yet wiser. From that day on, he listened more closely, understanding that sometimes the safest route is the best adventure of all.
