CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! The grand hall of Emperor Akbar's court rang with excitement as a big, brawny craftsman stomped in, pulling a cart that sparkled with shiny silver spears and gleaming shields. His muscles were as strong as iron, and his voice rumbled like rolling thunder. “YOUR MAJESTY!” he bellowed, causing the chandeliers to sway like dancers. “I am the GREATEST weapons-maker in all of India! My shields are so tough that NOTHING can break them! And my spears are so sharp that NOTHING can stop them!”
The courtiers gasped, their eyes wide with admiration, while a few clapped their hands in delight. Emperor Akbar leaned forward, a curious glint in his eyes, but in the corner stood a clever man named Birbal, his playful smile hinting at mischief. “Excuse me, my good sir,” he said gently, raising a finger as if he had a great secret to share. “I can prove you wrong!”
The craftsman’s mustache bristled with anger. “IMPOSSIBLE!” he roared, shaking the court. Birbal chuckled and approached the cart. He picked up one of the shining shields, holding it high like a trophy. Then he grabbed a spear and waved it playfully in the air. “Let’s have some fun!” he exclaimed. “Hold up the shield, my friend!”
As the craftsman reached for the shield, a look of confusion spread across his face. If his shield could truly stop everything, how could his spear ever pierce it? But if his spear could pierce anything, then… Oh no! His mighty shield wasn’t unbreakable after all! The crowd held their breath, watching his face change colors, turning redder and redder like a hot chili pepper.
Emperor Akbar burst into laughter. “Well, my dear craftsman, which is it? Can your spear pierce everything, or can your shield block everything?” The craftsman stood frozen, his pride retreating like a scared rabbit. With a heavy heart, he began to load his cart, shoulders slumping, and without a word turned to leave the court, the echoes of his bold claims fading behind him.
The courtiers erupted in laughter, while Birbal winked at the emperor, his cleverness shining brighter than the sun. And in that lively court, the lesson floated in the air like a sparkling fairy: sometimes, our own words can twist into a riddle, reminding us to think carefully before we boast!
