The Blind Leading the Blind

Panchatantra Tales

An ancient Panchatantra tale of clever animals, cunning tricks, and wisdom that has lasted thousands of years.

In a bright and bustling kingdom filled with glimmering rivers and leafy trees, four clever Brahmins, or scholars, graduated from the fanciest school. They had studied hard for twelve long years, learning every dusty scroll and magical verse. But when it came to common sense, they were as lost as four sleepy potatoes!

Eager for adventure, the scholars set off into the world. Soon, they arrived at a busy crossroads, where a sad funeral procession floated by like a dark cloud. “Look!” said the first scholar, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “The wise say great leaders must follow the path!” And with that, they joined the procession, their heads held high but their hearts heavy.

At the end of the journey, they found a bored donkey munching grass beside a pile of wood. “The wise say a true friend is there in joy and sorrow!” declared the second scholar. Without hesitation, they hugged the puzzled donkey, treating him like a king!

Suddenly, a thunderous camel appeared. “Righteousness rides swiftly!” shouted the third scholar, tying the donkey to the camel’s saddle. With one big whoosh, the camel bolted, dragging the donkey along like a fluffy kite in a storm! The donkey’s owner chased after them, waving a stick like a tiny tree, “Come back here!”

The scholars dashed to a river, splashing water everywhere. A sacred leaf floated by, and the fourth scholar shouted, “Holiness carries us!” He jumped onto the leaf and—SPLASH!—down he went, sinking like a stone.

In the end, the soaked scholars stumbled into a cheerful village, where the kind villagers offered them delicious food. But instead of eating, they turned down every dish with silly reasons, leaving the villagers laughing like bells!

As the scholars left, dripping and bewildered, they realized that all their learning was no match for the simple joys of life. With hearts lighter and spirits brighter, they continued their journey, ready to discover the magic hidden in everyday moments.
