The Brahmin's Son

Vikram & Betaal Tales

A spine-tingling Vikram and Betaal riddle — where a brave king must answer or lose everything!

Ash drifted through the night like tiny grey snowflakes, blanketing the world in silence. In the stillness of the cremation ground, Vikram moved cautiously, a heavy bundle on his back. This was no ordinary bundle; it contained the lifeless body of a young man named Uday, whose smile once lit up the streets of Gaya.

Uday was cherished by all. His laughter was a melody that danced through the town. But one day, tragedy struck! With a sudden thud, Uday collapsed, and just like that, the joy vanished. His parents' cries filled the air, echoing with sorrow so profound that even a wise old hermit, meditating nearby, opened his eyes and felt a pang in his heart.

As Uday was laid on the funeral pyre, the hermit’s heart stirred. Tears streamed down his weathered face, heavy with memories of laughter and love. But then, something unexpected happened! The hermit suddenly burst into laughter! It was a joyous sound that rang through the air, startling the birds into flight.

At that very moment, something magical occurred! Uday's eyes blinked open, and he sat up, alive and vibrant! His parents rushed to him, their hearts soaring with pure joy. But when they turned to thank the hermit, they found him lying peacefully, a gentle smile on his lips, his spirit now free.

As the moon glowed brightly above, Vikram felt a warm glow in his heart. He understood that in the dance of life, endings can lead to new beginnings, and that joy and sadness often waltz hand in hand, reminding us to cherish each moment.
