In a lively village where bright colors danced in the markets and cheerful voices filled the air, there lived a clever young merchant named Jveernadhana. He was famous for his magical iron balance that sparkled like stars in the sunlight. This balance was special – it could weigh anything perfectly! But one day, misfortune struck, and Jveernadhana’s business began to crumble like an old tower of blocks. With a heavy heart, he asked his neighbor, Ramu, to watch over his beloved balance. “Please take good care of it,” he urged, before setting off on a daring adventure to earn back his fortune.
After many moons of hard work and shiny gold coins, Jveernadhana returned to the village, excitement bubbling within him. “Ramu!” he shouted joyfully. “I’m back! May I have my balance, please?” Ramu’s face turned gloomy. “Oh no! The rats came and—they ate your iron balance!” he exclaimed with wide eyes. Jveernadhana couldn't believe his ears. “Rats… ate iron?” he murmured, feeling a storm brewing inside. But instead of getting angry, he smiled calmly. “How unfortunate! Would your son, little Ravi, like to join me on a trip to the river?”
Ramu nodded eagerly, unaware of Jveernadhana’s sly plan. They walked to the river, where the water sparkled like a thousand diamonds. But instead of stopping there, Jveernadhana led Ravi to a hidden cave, gently tucked him inside, and rolled a large stone over the entrance. Heart racing, he returned to Ramu alone.
When Ramu realized his son was missing, panic filled the air. “Where is my boy?” he shouted. “A flamingo swooped down and took him!” Jveernadhana replied, pretending to be sad. “That’s impossible!” Ramu yelled, eyes wide. The village elder listened carefully to their wild tale, and soon, laughter bubbled from him like a fountain. “Return the iron balance,” he chuckled, “and you’ll find your boy.”
With a heavy heart, Ramu returned the balance. As soon as it was in Jveernadhana’s hands, the stone rolled away, and out popped little Ravi, giggling with joy. Both Ramu and Jveernadhana learned valuable lessons that day about honesty and the surprises that come from playing tricks on others.
