In a magnificent palace sparkling with jewels and colorful tapestries, there lived a clever Queen with a twinkle in her eye. She was known far and wide for her quick thinking and sparkling wit. But one sunny day, a little green monster called envy crept into her heart. It seemed everyone in the kingdom sang praises of Birbal, the Emperor's wise and funny advisor. “Birbal this! Birbal that!” they chirped, leaving the Queen feeling a bit left out.
Determined to show she was clever too, the Queen summoned Birbal to her royal chambers for a special game. The sun streamed through the golden curtains as she grinned mischievously and declared, “Watch closely, Birbal! I will count down to the moment refreshments arrive!” With excitement bubbling up like a fizzy drink, she counted, “Three… two… one… WHOOSH!” The doors swung open, and a servant glided in with a silver tray of delicious treats! The Queen couldn’t help but beam with pride. “See, Birbal? I did it!”
“Of course, Your Majesty,” Birbal replied, his grin warm as sunshine. “But tomorrow, I shall host lunch for you and the Emperor. You will count then!” The Queen, confident and a bit smug, agreed, thinking, “He has no idea how my palace works!”
On the following day, the palace shimmered under the bright sun as the Emperor and Queen arrived at Birbal’s cozy home. After cheerful chatting, the Queen leaned in, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “Birbal, are you ready for lunch? Shall we count?”
With a twinkle in his eye, Birbal replied, “I would be honored if you counted, Your Majesty! I promise the food will arrive the moment you finish.” Intrigued, the Queen nodded and began counting: “One… two… three… four… five… six… seven… eight… nine… TEN!”
Just as she finished, WHOOOSH! Five servants burst in with steaming platters of fragrant, mouth-watering dishes! The Emperor roared with laughter, his belly shaking like jelly. “Brilliant! But tell me, dear Queen, who has won?”
The Queen paused, glancing at the bustling servants and then at the grinning Birbal. Suddenly, laughter bubbled up inside her like a joyous river. “He made ME the magician!” she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with delight. “While he did nothing at all! That means he won. But I feel like I won too!”
At that moment, the Queen realized that the cleverest victories are those that leave everyone smiling, filling the palace with laughter, joy, and a feast of friendship.
