In a magical land where colorful banners fluttered like butterflies and the air was filled with the sweet scent of spices, there lived a clever man named Birbal. He worked for Emperor Akbar, the mightiest ruler, whose laughter could brighten even the gloomiest day. One sunny morning, Akbar called for Birbal, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “My dear friend, I need you to visit Persia and represent me at their royal court!” he announced.
Birbal packed his bags with care, filling them with books, trinkets, and stories to share. Upon his arrival in Persia, he was greeted by joyful parades and feasts that tickled his taste buds! The Persian King, tall and regal with a crown that sparkled like stars, eagerly awaited Birbal's words of praise.
On the last night of the grand celebration, a curious nobleman leaned in and asked, “How does our glorious king compare to your Emperor Akbar?” The grand hall fell silent, everyone holding their breath in anticipation. With a twinkle in his eye, Birbal replied, “Your King is like the Full Moon, shining bright and beautiful! But my Emperor Akbar? He is the Quarter Moon, still growing!” The room erupted in cheers, and gifts showered down on Birbal, who thought they had all understood his clever compliment.
But as he returned to Agra, a knot tightened in his stomach. He knew Emperor Akbar had heard the praises. When he entered the throne room, Akbar looked like a storm cloud—dark and serious. “Birbal, did you call the Persian king the Full Moon while saying I am just a Quarter Moon?” he asked, his voice heavy like thunder.
Birbal bowed deeply. “Every word is true, Your Majesty.” The court gasped, and Birbal felt the weight of their gazes. He took a deep breath and said, “The Full Moon shines bright, but it will soon start to shrink. The Quarter Moon? It is just beginning its journey, growing bigger and brighter each night!”
Birbal's words danced through the air like fireflies. Slowly, Akbar’s expression softened as he realized the wisdom behind his friend’s words. After a moment, he stood, walked over, and wrapped Birbal in a warm hug, laughter bubbling between them like a joyful song. The throne room filled with cheers, understanding that Birbal’s clever praise illuminated a path for everyone to grow together.
