In a magical kingdom surrounded by towering mountains and swirling mist, there lived a lovely princess named Rose. With her golden hair sparkling in the sun and her big blue eyes shining like the clearest sky, everyone adored her. But one bright morning, a huge, fearsome Dragon, his scales gleaming like emeralds, swooped down from the clouds with a ROOOOOAR that echoed through the valley! In a flash, he snatched Princess Rose and flew off to his dark, spooky cave.
The castle was filled with sorrow as the King sent out brave knights in shining armor. They came galloping from far and wide, but one by one, they climbed the mountain, only to return trembling and scared. The mighty Dragon seemed unbeatable!
Meanwhile, in the chilly cave, Rose was not afraid. Instead, she put on her thinking cap! She watched the Dragon as he snoozed and learned that he snored like thunder from noon till midnight. She also discovered he loved to polish his shimmering scales every morning with a soft brush made from pine branches. On the second day, she boldly approached him while he was busy polishing.
“Can you talk?” the surprised Dragon bellowed, his golden eyes wide.
“Of course! But why did you take me?” Rose asked with a steady voice.
The Dragon shifted nervously, whispering, “I wanted… company.”
Rose blinked in surprise. “You could have just asked!” she chuckled, trying to keep a straight face.
The Dragon turned a shade of pink and muttered, “I didn’t think anyone would want to visit a Dragon.”
After thinking for a moment, Princess Rose made a deal: “You fix my father’s apple orchard, and I’ll visit you once a month!” The Dragon’s eyes sparkled with joy, and he agreed.
With a gentle flap of his wings, the Dragon carried Rose high into the sky. The knights below could hardly believe their eyes as they watched the princess laugh and wave from the Dragon’s back! Back at the castle, Princess Rose kept her promise, and each month, their friendship blossomed, filling the cave with laughter and joy.
As the once-lonely Dragon learned the magic of companionship, he transformed from a fierce creature into Rose's dear friend. Together, they showed everyone that understanding each other can bring the greatest magic of all.
