The Adventures of Prince Firouz

Arabian Nights Tales

A classic tale retold for young readers — full of wonder, magic, and timeless wisdom.

Once upon a time, in a shimmering land of golden sands and twinkling stars, there lived a daring prince named Firouz. He loved adventures more than anything! One day, he heard whispers of a magical flying horse hidden deep in Persia. This wasn’t just any horse; it was created by the kingdom's greatest inventor, with shiny black fur, glimmering white legs, and sparkling silver wings that twinkled like the night sky.

The inventor had worked for twenty long years on this incredible creature. He approached the King of Persia, proudly declaring, “Your Majesty, this horse is a marvel! I offer it to you in exchange for your daughter’s hand in marriage!” The king was amazed but worried about marrying his beloved daughter to someone so old and odd. Just then, brave Prince Firouz exclaimed, “Let me try it, Father!” His heart raced with excitement.

With a flick of his wrist, he turned the right peg, and — WHOOSH! — he shot into the sky, soaring over snow-capped mountains and glistening rivers. The wind danced through his hair as he flew higher and higher, almost touching the stars. But when he wanted to come down, he accidentally twisted the wrong peg! Up he went, into the thin air where frost tickled his fingers, and panic filled his heart.

Finally, as darkness fell, he turned the right peg and spiraled down, landing softly on the rooftop of a distant palace. There, he found Princess Shams of Bengal, glowing in the lantern light and lost in a book. They laughed and shared tales of their dreams, feeling an instant connection.

But oh no! The jealous inventor had followed them! He rushed in, determined to claim both the princess and the flying horse. Firmly, Prince Firouz challenged him, “If this horse is yours, you ride it!” The sly inventor climbed onto the horse, but Prince Firouz was ready. In a flash, he lifted Princess Shams onto the saddle, turned the right peg, and — WHOOSH! — they zoomed back into the sky, leaving the bewildered inventor behind.

They landed safely in Persia, where cheers erupted all around them, and the skies filled with colorful fireworks. The inventor was taken away, unable to steal their joy. Under a canopy of twinkling stars, Prince Firouz and Princess Shams were married, while the magical horse stood proudly in the courtyard, its silver wings sparkling in the moonlight. Together, they discovered that true love and courage could take them anywhere, turning dreams into reality.
