The Prince and the Banished Princess

Vikram & Betaal Tales

A spine-tingling Vikram and Betaal riddle — where a brave king must answer or lose everything!

The rain had finally stopped, leaving the forest wrapped in a magical mist that seemed to whisper secrets. King Vikram walked through the damp woods, his heart heavy with curiosity. Suddenly, a soft voice floated through the trees, playful and mysterious. It was Betaal, the mischievous spirit who loved to share stories. “Listen closely, O King!” it teased as shadows danced around them.

Meanwhile, in a sunny kingdom far away, a brave prince named Jayakumar awoke to a beautiful morning. His adventurous spirit led him to a hidden temple deep in the forest. Inside an enchanting grove filled with wildflowers, he spotted a girl laughing like the tinkling of silver bells. It was Princess Meghala! Their eyes met, and it felt like the sun had just burst from the clouds, lighting up their hearts. But joy turned to worry as Jayakumar remembered that Meghala’s father, the king, had chosen a stern nobleman for her to marry — someone she didn’t love.

“We need a clever plan!” exclaimed Jayakumar’s friend Abhiman, scratching his head. After pacing like a tiger, Abhiman had a brilliant idea. He decided to disguise himself as a fearsome bandit! With a mask and a flowing cloak, he stormed into the bustling marketplace. “Boo! Hand over your jewels!” he roared, sending people running in all directions! In the chaos, he snatched Meghala's jewels and sold them to a jeweler. Soon, the guards caught the jeweler, and they uncovered a surprising secret: Meghala had been meeting Jayakumar!

The king, furious, bellowed, “OUT! You have shamed this family!” SLAM! The palace doors closed behind Meghala, sealing her fate. Jayakumar took her hand, his eyes shining with hope. “Come with me,” he urged. As they journeyed to his kingdom, he explained, “The robbery was just a trick!” Meghala’s heart raced with surprise, and after a moment, she whispered, “I choose to stay with you.”

Together, they stepped into a new adventure, while Vikram listened to Betaal’s whispers. The spirit leaned closer, eager for the king’s thoughts. “Who caused Meghala the most suffering?” it asked with a playful grin. Vikram answered wisely, understanding the deeper truth. He realized that sometimes, adults forget to listen to the hearts of their children, and that can bring sadness instead of joy.

With a chuckle, Betaal disappeared like a wisp of smoke, leaving behind the echoes of Vikram’s wisdom shining like stars in the night sky.
