In a sun-kissed garden bursting with colorful flowers, there lived a dazzling Peacock named Percy. Percy believed he was the most splendid creature in the whole wide world! With a flick of his tail, he loved to show off his shimmering emerald feathers, making sure everyone admired him. One bright morning, while Percy admired his reflection in the shimmering pond, something magical happened!
A radiant light floated down from the sky, and out stepped Juno, the goddess of the skies, dressed in flowing robes that sparkled like the stars. “Percy, my dear,” she said sweetly, “I have a special gift just for you! Your tail will be the most spectacular of all—emeralds, sapphires, gold, and purple! Hundreds of shimmering eyes that twinkle like jewels!” Percy jumped with joy as, with a flick of Juno’s hand, his tail erupted into a kaleidoscope of colors. The whole garden gasped in awe, even the roses seemed to blush!
Feeling like a king, Percy strutted around, basking in the whispers of admiration. But suddenly, he heard the majestic call of an Eagle soaring high above. The Eagle danced with the clouds, and Percy’s heart raced with excitement. He had always dreamed of flying! With a mighty leap, he spread his beautiful wings and jumped into the air. But instead of soaring, he landed with a thud, his magnificent tail dragging behind him like a heavy blanket.
Percy tried again, flapping his wings with all his strength, but the weight of his dazzling tail held him down. Around him, the little Sparrows zipped and twirled effortlessly, and even the clumsy pigeons managed to flutter up to the rooftops. Percy felt a pang of sadness as he watched them fly. He glanced back at his beautiful reflection, realizing that while he looked stunning, he couldn’t experience the thrill of flight.
With a deep sigh, Percy looked at a nearby sparrow happily looping through the sky. “I guess,” he murmured, folding his glorious tail, “there’s more to life than just beauty.” As he stood in the warm sunlight, Percy discovered a little secret: sometimes, the things that make us shine can also weigh us down.
