On a sunlit afternoon in the grand palace of Emperor Akbar, a buzz of excitement filled the air. The playful emperor, always ready for a good laugh, suddenly called, “Birbal! I want you to paint the most wonderful picture in all the kingdom!” Birbal, the clever minister with a twinkle in his eye, looked puzzled. “But, Your Majesty, I’m not an artist! I write stories, not paint!”
Akbar leaned in with a mischievous grin. “I don’t care! If I don’t see an amazing painting in one week…” He paused dramatically, letting the silence hang, “…you shall be HANGED!” Gasps rippled through the court, and even Birbal’s enemies shivered.
With a racing heart, Birbal stepped outside, his mind swirling like colorful kites. Suddenly, SNAP! An idea as bright as the sun popped into his head, and he couldn’t help but chuckle. Instead of painting, he decided to do something quite magical—he did absolutely nothing! He soaked up the sun, nibbled sweet fruits, and enjoyed long, cozy naps. The courtiers whispered, wondering if Birbal had gone a little silly.
On the seventh day, with a confident strut, Birbal returned to the palace, holding a grand wooden frame covered by a mysterious cloth. The court buzzed with excitement. “Show me, Birbal!” commanded Akbar, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. With a dramatic flourish, Birbal pulled off the cloth.
Before them was a vast empty sky, brown earth, and tiny green dots. “BIRBAL!” Akbar shouted, his face turning red. “What is this nonsense?!”
“It’s a cow eating grass!” Birbal beamed.
“But WHERE is the cow? Where is the grass?” asked the confused emperor.
Birbal shrugged playfully. “Oh, I used my imagination, Your Majesty! The cow ate ALL the grass and then went home!”
For a moment, there was silence, then—BOOM! Akbar burst into laughter, the sound echoing like thunder through the palace. Even the jealous courtiers couldn’t resist smiling.
“You clever man!” Akbar laughed, tears of joy rolling down his cheeks. He summoned a chest filled with shining gold coins. “For a painting of NOTHING—and an imagination of EVERYTHING!”
And so, the clever minister showed everyone that sometimes, the brightest ideas come from the most unexpected places, filling the world with laughter and joy.
