In a vibrant village filled with cheerful colors, there lived a gentle merchant named Old Kamakura. He had sparkling treasures, but his heart felt heavy and lonely. After much effort, he finally married a lovely young girl, his new bride with golden hair and bright eyes. But when she arrived, her smile faded as she turned her back to him, staring at the wall as if it were the most interesting painting in the world.
“Oh dear,” thought Kamakura, scratching his snowy beard. “What can I do to win her heart?”
He gifted her flowers that danced in the breeze, but she wrinkled her nose. He wore his shiniest jewels, but all she did was yawn. He told her tales of far-off lands, yet she seemed more fascinated by the wall’s rough texture. Days turned into weeks, and they grew more distant than two stars in the night sky.
One shadowy night, a strange sound echoed through their home: SCRRRRITCH! A thief had crept in! The young wife’s heart raced like a wild rabbit, THUMP-THUMP-THUMP, as she clutched Kamakura, surprising them both.
“STRANGER!” Kamakura called out with a joyful laugh, startling the thief. “Look at you! You’ve made my wife hold my hand! Take whatever treasure you wish; you’ve earned it!”
The thief, confused but intrigued, grabbed a shiny vase and dashed out into the night, leaving behind a trail of mystery.
As the moonlight filled the room, Kamakura and his wife laughed together, their hearts warm and close for the first time. They discovered that unexpected moments can spark a beautiful connection, weaving joy where loneliness once lingered.
