In a lively village, right next to a shimmering temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, there lived a wise old sage. His long, silver beard flowed like a sparkling waterfall, and his simple robes billowed like soft clouds. Every day, villagers brought him delicious treats — warm rice, juicy fruits, and crunchy grains. But the sage, kind-hearted as he was, shared most of his goodies with the hardworking caretakers of the temple, keeping only a tiny bowl of food high up on a wall, safe from prying hands.
However, as the sun dipped below the horizon and the stars began to twinkle like tiny diamonds, a sneaky little mouse would appear! This wasn’t just any mouse; he was as clever as a playful magician! With a flick of his whiskers and mischief sparkling in his eyes, he would scamper and leap, snatching food from the sage’s bowl, no matter how high it was hung. The sage would wave his bamboo stick, but the mouse was always a jump ahead, giggling softly as he whisked away his prize.
One sunny afternoon, a gentle traveler with a warm smile visited the sage. Noticing the sage’s frown as he waved at the air, the traveler asked, “What troubles you?”
“That pesky mouse!” grumbled the sage. “He jumps like he has wings! I can never catch him!”
The traveler’s eyes sparkled with a clever idea. “What if he has a secret stash of food somewhere? A mouse with a pantry feels brave! Let’s find it!”
With renewed determination, the sage grabbed a sturdy pickaxe, and they followed the tiny tracks left by the mischievous mouse. They ventured to a small hole in the wall, hidden behind old stones. With each swing of the pickaxe, their excitement grew, until they uncovered a treasure trove of grains, dried fruits, and sugary treats — all gathered by the mouse over many moonlit nights!
That evening, the mouse, filled with confidence, prepared for his usual leap toward the sage’s bowl. But something was different! As he crouched and jumped with all his might, he landed with a soft thud, his leap much lower than before. Puzzled, he shook his whiskers and tried again, but it was even worse. Panic filled his little heart when he realized he had lost all his energy!
The wise sage approached, bamboo stick in hand, but the frightened mouse dashed away into the shadows, his courage vanished.
From that day on, the temple was free from the little thief, allowing the sage to enjoy his meals peacefully. He smiled, knowing that sometimes, the best way to solve a problem is to find the root of it and gently remove it, leaving all worries behind.
