In a lively kingdom bursting with colors and giggles, there lived a king named Krishnadevaraya. His pride and joy was a magical garden filled with dazzling flowers and plants, but the real treasure was a group of shiny, plump brinjals that twinkled like amethysts in the sun. These brinjals were so scrumptiously delightful that one bite would make anyone dance with joy!
One sunny afternoon, the king decided to throw a grand feast for all his courtiers. The long banquet table was piled high with delicious dishes, but the brinjals sparkled most brightly. Everyone gushed about their taste, especially Tenali Raman, the king's cleverest courtier. His eyes sparkled as he gobbled them up, but when he got home, his wife raised an eyebrow and teased, “And what about me? Will I never taste those magical brinjals?”
Caught between his love for her and the king's garden, Tenali gulped. “But they belong to the king!”
With a playful smirk, she insisted, “Then go get me some!”
That night, under a moon that shone like a silver coin, Tenali crept into the garden like a shadow, plucking a gleaming brinjal. His heart raced with excitement! Back home, his wife cooked it with love. The moment she tasted it, she squealed, “I need more!”
With her mischievous look urging him on, Tenali climbed the wall again, this time with two brinjals. But oh no! What if he got caught? In a flash, he woke his son, dousing him with cold water. “Wake up! It's pouring!” he shouted, making his son blink in confusion.
The next morning, the royal gardener noticed the missing brinjals. “Who stole from my garden?” thundered the king. The chief minister scratched his chin and whispered, “Only Tenali would dare!”
They summoned Tenali’s son, who shouted, “We had the yummiest brinjals for dinner!” Tenali rushed in, spinning a tale about dreams and sleepwalking. “Ask my son about the weather!”
The king raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “And what was it like?”
“Oh, it rained heavily!” the boy puffed with pride. Laughter erupted in the court, for everyone knew the skies had been clear!
Tenali dropped to his knees, promising never to steal again. The king chuckled, unable to stay angry at someone who brought such joy. From that day on, Tenali learned that the sweetest treasures are the ones we earn with honesty and love.
