In the bustling city of Benares, where the sunbeams twinkled like stars and flowers painted the streets with colors, there lived a mighty king. He was a kind ruler, full of wisdom, thanks to his clever advisor, the Bodhisatta. The birds chirped sweetly, and even the trees seemed to lean in to hear his advice. But one day, dark clouds gathered on the horizon. Seven envious kings, filled with jealousy, marched their big armies toward Benares, their elephants trumpeting and horses galloping, shaking the ground beneath their feet.
The people of Benares scared and worried for their homes. Just as the king was about to summon his brave soldiers, the Bodhisatta stepped forward with a twinkle in his eye. "My lord," he said softly, "let's not fight! Instead, send our fastest horse, Knowing-one, and our bravest knight to capture the kings without a single blow!" The king paused; he liked this idea. With a determined nod, he agreed.
With a whoosh, the knight, clad in shining armor, mounted the magical horse, whose mane sparkled like moonlight. They galloped into the distance, capturing each of the seven kings one by one, without so much as a whisper of battle. The people of Benares gasped in awe as the final king was brought into the royal hall, his chains softly jingling.
The hall fell silent as the king of Benares approached his captives. With a calm heart, he removed their chains and spoke gently, "You came here wanting to take from me, but I give you back your freedom. Go home to your families. We can choose to be friends instead of enemies."
As the kings exchanged confused glances, hope sparkled in their eyes. One by one, they bowed deeply, grateful for the king's unexpected kindness. In the years that followed, three of the kings returned—not with armies, but with their children, eager to share laughter and friendship in Benares. The darkness that once loomed over their kingdoms faded away, replaced by the bright light of joy and camaraderie.
And so, the wise king planted the seeds of peace, which blossomed into beautiful friendships that would shine brightly forever.
