Gomaya the jackal was very hungry. His tummy rumbled like a thunderstorm, and his legs felt as wobbly as a newborn fawn. After two long days without a meal, he decided to leave the shady forest and explore a wide, empty plain, hoping to find something to munch on.
As he trotted along, he remembered the tales of a great battle that had happened on this very land. Brave soldiers had marched with shiny swords, but they left behind broken shields and tattered banners fluttering in the breeze. Suddenly, something caught his eye—a large, shiny drum leaning against a crooked tree.
Just then, a strong gust of wind swept through the plain, rustling the branches and scratching the drum’s surface. BOOM! BOOM-BOOM! The sound echoed loudly, making Gomaya freeze. His heart raced like a wild rabbit! What could that be? It sounded like a giant who could gobble him up in one bite! His instincts told him to run, and he almost turned back to the safety of the forest. But then he paused.
“Wait a minute!” he thought. “I’m scared of a noise! A clever jackal should face his fears!” With a deep breath, he steadied himself and crept closer to the drum, his heart thumping like a drumbeat. As he rounded the tree, he discovered the truth—the “monster” was just a drum!
Gomaya burst into laughter, realizing how silly he had been. Feeling brave and bold, he explored the area around the drum and found delicious scraps of food and fresh water! With a big grin on his face, he feasted like a king.
As the sun set, painting the sky in warm oranges and pinks, Gomaya felt proud. He had faced his fears and discovered something wonderful. Sometimes, the scary things we run from are just waiting to surprise us!
