In a lively kingdom bustling with laughter and colorful markets, there lived a clever man named Tenali Raman. Known for his quick wit, he could turn any problem into a funny adventure. One day, things took a wild twist when the king’s grumpy guards marched him down to the shimmering river. They were not happy with Tenali at all. Just the day before, he had outsmarted them at the palace gate, leaving them in quite a pickle!
As Tenali was tied to a tree by the riverbank, the guards sharpened their swords, making them shine like stars in the evening sky. Suddenly, they began to bicker about who would get to take the first swing at him. “It’s my turn!” one shouted. “No, it’s mine!” the other argued.
Tenali, hanging upside down, couldn’t help but giggle at their silliness. “Oh dear guards,” he called out, “didn’t the king say you must strike at the same time? Why not untie me and take me to the water?” Eager to get on with things, the guards quickly untied him and led him into the chilly river, splashing about as they stood ready with their swords.
“Wait!” Tenali exclaimed, closing his eyes. “I have one last wish! Let me shout ‘Jai Kali Ma’ before you strike!” The guards, still grumbling, agreed.
With a booming voice, Tenali shouted, “JAI KALI MA!” and dove into the water with a mighty SPLASH! The guards swung their swords together, CLAAAAANG! The metal clashed where Tenali had just been. To their shock, he popped back up downstream, grinning widely.
“Let’s do that again!” the guards shouted, flailing like fish out of water. Tenali chuckled, “Oh no, you can’t! The king only allowed one strike!” Wet and furious, the guards trudged back to the palace.
When they presented a soggy but cheerful Tenali to the king, the throne room erupted in laughter. “Oh, Tenali! You mischievous man!” the king chuckled, wiping his tears of joy. “Go home and stay there!”
And so, Tenali continued to turn tricky moments into delightful adventures, reminding everyone that sometimes the best way to find a solution is to stay calm and think outside the box.
