Khalid and Yousef were the best of friends, always ready for exciting adventures. They lived in a cheerful village surrounded by rolling hills and sparkling streams, where every day brought new surprises. One sunny day, they decided to explore a vast, shimmering desert. The golden sand stretched endlessly beneath their tiny feet, and soon the heat made each step feel like a heavy burden.
On the third day, with the sun blazing above, their patience wore thin. Suddenly, voices rose in a storm of angry shouts. Khalid, in a moment of frustration, raised his hand and—SMACK!—he slapped Yousef. The sound echoed like thunder in the still desert air. Yousef froze, his cheek stinging, but instead of shouting back, he knelt in the soft sand and wrote, “Today my best friend slapped me in the face.”
They continued walking in silence, hearts heavy with hurt. Later, they stumbled upon a magical oasis—a splash of vibrant green in the endless brown desert! Tall palm trees swayed gently, and the cool water sparkled like jewels. Yousef, feeling brave, plunged his tired feet into the water. But WHOOPS! He slipped and fell in, bubbles escaping from his lips as panic set in. “HELP!” he cried, splashing wildly.
Without a moment's thought, Khalid dove into the water, his heart racing. He grasped Yousef's arm and pulled him to safety, both tumbling onto the grassy bank, gasping for breath as the sun wrapped them in warmth. Once Yousef calmed down, he picked up a sharp stone and etched into a nearby rock, “Today my best friend saved my life.”
Khalid watched in awe. “Why write that in stone?” he asked. Yousef smiled, brushing sand from his hands. “When someone hurts us, we write it in sand, so the wind can carry it away. But when someone saves us, we carve it in stone, so we remember it forever.”
As the sun set, painting the sky in dazzling colors, the two friends sat side by side, their bond stronger than ever. The wind swept away the hurt, and they knew that kindness and forgiveness were the true treasures they would always hold close.
