On a chilly winter morning, the sun peeked shyly through fluffy clouds, casting a silver glow on the thick blanket of snow that covered the fields like a cozy quilt. A Farmer, wrapped snugly in his warm coat, trudged home, his boots making soft squishing sounds with each step. The world around him was quiet, with only the whisper of the wind and the crunch of snow underfoot.
As he walked, something unusual caught his eye—a dark shape half-buried in the snow. Curiosity bubbling inside him, he bent down and gasped. It was a Viper, its scales shimmering like tiny jewels, but it lay frozen and stiff, as if caught in a moment of winter magic. The Farmer felt a tug of pity in his heart. "Oh dear, what a sad sight," he whispered, his breath clouding in the frosty air.
Against all his better instincts, he gently scooped up the Viper and tucked it inside his coat, hoping to share his warmth. At first, the snake lay still, but soon the Farmer felt it begin to stir! The cozy heat of his body was bringing it back to life!
As they neared his warm cottage, the Farmer smiled, picturing the joy of saving this little creature. But just as he reached the door, a sudden thrill of danger crackled in the air. The Viper, now fully revived, raised its head, its eyes glinting like two sharp stars. In an instant, it struck! The Farmer yelped, feeling a sting like a thorn, and flung the Viper away. It slithered across the snow, leaving a small cloud of powdery flakes behind.
Wincing and feeling a heavy sadness in his heart, the Farmer sighed. "Oh, what a fool I’ve been," he murmured. He realized that while kindness is a beautiful gift, not all creatures deserve it—especially those who carry wicked hearts.
As he settled in by the fireplace, wrapping his hand in a soft cloth, the crackling flames danced brightly, illuminating the important lesson he had learned: sometimes, kindness must be paired with wisdom to truly make the world a better place.
