In a grand stone kingdom that sparkled in the sunlight, there lived a wise old king with three sons. Harold and Victor were tall and loud, always boasting about their plans. But their youngest brother, Tom, was gentle and quiet, often overlooked as the "simpleton." Little did they know, Tom had a heart full of magic.
One bright morning, the king climbed to the top of the tallest tower, where the wind danced playfully around him. With a deep breath, he released three shimmering magical feathers into the air. "Bring back the finest carpet in the world!" he declared, his voice echoing through the kingdom.
The first feather shot east like a shooting star. “I’ll find the best carpet!” shouted Harold, racing off on his strong horse. The second feather twirled west like a leaf caught in a breeze, and Victor dashed after it, bragging about his win. But the third feather fluttered softly, landing right at Tom’s feet. Harold and Victor burst into laughter. “Look at Tom! The feather chose the simpleton!” they jeered as they galloped away.
Undeterred, Tom noticed something shiny peeking from the grass: an iron ring set into the ground. With all his strength, he pulled it up, revealing a winding staircase glowing with warm golden light. Taking a deep breath, Tom stepped down, heart racing with excitement.
At the bottom sat a giant toad with wise, twinkling eyes and playful little toads bouncing around her. “What do you seek, young prince?” she croaked, her voice soft as a lullaby. “I need the finest carpet in the world,” Tom replied, feeling brave.
With a clapping of her hands, the great toad summoned a tiny toad carrying a shiny box. Inside lay a carpet so dazzling that it shimmered like the ocean under the sun, twinkling with colors like stars in the night sky!
When Harold and Victor returned, their plain mats looked dull next to Tom's magnificent carpet. The king was amazed! In the following contests, Tom hurried back to the wise toad, each time returning with treasures more fantastic than the last.
Finally, the king announced a new challenge: finding a bride! Nervously, Tom visited the toad once more. This time, she stepped into the sunlight and with a swirl of magic, transformed into a beautiful princess, her kindness radiating like sunshine. Even Harold and Victor stood in awe, their mouths agape.
With joy in his heart, Tom became king, and his gentle rule brought laughter and happiness to the kingdom. The quiet boy had proven that sometimes the greatest magic lies in the softest hearts, filling the land with peace and joy.
