Suddenly, the water began to shimmer and bubble, swirling magically! From the depths emerged a tall, glowing figure, sparkling like a star. It held a dazzling golden axe that gleamed like sunlight. “Is this yours?” the figure asked in a voice as soft as a whispering breeze. Thomas’s heart raced. He could have everything he dreamed of with one tiny lie! But he knew that wasn’t right. “No,” he said bravely. “Mine was old and iron, with a chip in the blade.”
The figure nodded and vanished, only to return with a beautiful silver axe that sparkled like the moon. Again, temptation tugged at Thomas, but he shook his head. “That isn’t mine either.” The figure disappeared once more, leaving Thomas with hope fluttering in his chest. Finally, it resurfaced with his battered old iron axe, worn and chipped. “That’s mine!” Thomas exclaimed joyfully, reaching for it like a long-lost friend.
With a warm smile, the glowing figure handed Thomas all three axes—the golden, the silver, and his beloved iron one. “Because you chose to be honest, all three are yours,” it said before disappearing into the shimmering depths.
That evening, as the sun set in a blaze of colors, Thomas rushed home with the three axes cradled in his arms. He burst through the door, excitement bubbling inside him, and shared his magical adventure with his wife. She smiled softly, and Thomas realized that the greatest treasure of all was his honest heart.
