The Boastful Crocodile

Cozy Bedtime Stories

A gentle bedtime tale to drift off to — warm, cozy, and full of sweet dreams.

In a sparkling river that shimmered under the sun’s warm embrace, there lived a grand crocodile named Cuddles. He was enormous, with teeth that sparkled like stars and a tail as thick as a mighty tree trunk. Cuddles loved to boast, his loud voice echoing through the jungle. “I am the CLEVEREST creature in the WHOLE jungle!” he bellowed with a mischievous twinkle in his eye. The other animals rolled their eyes, used to Cuddles’ endless bragging. They knew his powerful teeth could intimidate, so they stayed quiet.

One bright morning, Cuddles hatched a sneaky plan. “Today, I shall sneak into the village and play in the children’s playground!” he announced, bubbling with excitement. With a sly slither, he crept out of the river, his shiny scales glimmering in the sunlight. But Humphrey the hippopotamus, watching from the riverbank, had a sparkle of mischief in his own eyes.

As Cuddles disguised himself as a coconut tree near the playground, Humphrey charged through the tall grass and—WHAM! He knocked Cuddles right into the muddy ground! SPLAT! Mud flew everywhere, and the crocodile flailed about, splashing in the dirt.

Undeterred, Cuddles tried to be a seesaw next. “They won’t see me this time!” he thought with a grin. But Mango the monkey, swinging in the trees, spotted him and squeaked, “DANGER! DANGER!” The village children giggled, then raced home, leaving Cuddles feeling quite silly.

Next, he tried to be a bench, but a cheeky roly-poly bird squawked loudly, sending the children scampering away again. Just as Cuddles was feeling very clever, Trunky the gentle elephant arrived. With a friendly smile, she wrapped her trunk around him and swung him around in a big circle—once, twice, three times! WHOOSH! She launched him far down the river, SPLA-A-A-ASH!

Soaked and muddy, Cuddles floated in the water, his clever plans washed away and his heart a bit lighter. Nearby, a little green frog hopped by and blinked knowingly. As the sun set, bathing the sky in cozy colors, the village children snuggled in their beds, safe and sound, while the animals watched over them, their hearts full of kindness.

The Moral of the Story
