In a bustling Mughal city filled with colorful markets and fragrant spices, there was a cheerful washerman who had a lively donkey named Dhruv. One sunny morning, as bright rays danced through the streets, curious Dhruv slipped out of his yard, eager for adventure. With a cheerful clip-clop, he trotted into a potter's yard, where shiny clay pots stood like proud soldiers.
But oh dear! Dhruv was so excited that he didn’t see the pots! CRASH! SMASH! With every step, pots toppled and shattered into glittering shards. The potter, his eyes wide with shock, rushed out, waving a thick stick. “You naughty donkey!” he shouted, his voice echoing like thunder.
Hearing the commotion, the washerman hurried over, his heart racing. “How DARE you hit my donkey!” he yelled, pointing at the wreckage. A crowd gathered, buzzing with excitement like bees around flowers. After much shouting, the washerman sighed and agreed to pay for the broken pots, hoping to calm the storm.
That night, still fuming, the potter tiptoed over to the washerman’s yard. With a mischievous grin, he tied a cloth soaked in oil to Dhruv’s tail. “Let’s teach this donkey a lesson!” he muttered, striking a match. FWOOSH! Flames danced around the cloth, and with a startled HEE-HAW, Dhruv dashed away, galloping straight back into the potter's yard!
CRASH! BANG! SMASH! Shelves of pots shattered again, scattering clay everywhere. The potter gasped in despair, realizing that his anger had turned against him.
The next day, wise Birbal visited the court. As the potter whined about his losses, Birbal raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t you already receive coins for the first mishap?” A hush fell over the room as the potter nodded, his cheeks turning as red as his clay. “And did you not cause this new disaster all by yourself?” Birbal’s words rang clear.
With a heavy heart, the potter muttered an apology, learning that revenge can backfire. The crowd cheered for Birbal, and the washerman smiled, knowing that sometimes, it’s better to let go of anger than to let it lead to more troubles.
