On a bright and sunny afternoon, in a meadow painted with vibrant green grass, a clever little donkey named Dapper was happily munching on the sweetest clover. The sky sparkled with blue, and fluffy clouds floated by like cotton candy. Dapper was in a delightful mood until he spotted a sneaky shadow slinking through the tall grass. It was a wolf, with eyes that glimmered like shiny marbles and a belly that rumbled with hunger!
Dapper's heart raced like a drum, but instead of panicking, he took a deep breath and thought fast. He decided to pretend to be in trouble. With a dramatic limp, he dragged one of his hooves along the ground, making it look as if he were stuck in a muddy puddle. “Oh dear! Oh dear!” he groaned loudly, hoping to catch the wolf’s attention.
The wolf, curious about the sight of a limping donkey, approached with a sly smile. “What’s wrong, little donkey?” he asked, his voice smooth like syrup.
“Oh, it’s terrible!” Dapper replied, his eyes wide with feigned sorrow. “I have a huge thorn stuck in my hoof! If you eat me, that thorn might choke you! You don’t want to be a wolf with a sore throat!”
The wolf scratched his head, rethinking his dinner plans. “You make a good point. I wouldn’t want to ruin my meal!”
Just when the wolf leaned in to check Dapper’s hoof, the clever donkey kicked with all his might! Thump! The wolf yelped and stumbled back, landing in a fluffy pile of grass.
With a burst of energy, Dapper shook off his limp and dashed away, his legs flying like the wind! He felt free and light as a feather, leaving the confused wolf behind, rubbing his nose in disbelief. “How did I let that happen?” the wolf murmured, realizing he had been tricked.
As the sun shone brightly and the meadow filled with laughter, Dapper trotted back to his delightful patch of clover. He knew that sometimes, thinking fast is the best way to escape trouble, and with a twinkle in his eye, he returned to his feast, ready for more adventures.
