On a sunny farm surrounded by a colorful meadow, there lived a cheerful washerman with two wonderful friends: Bruno the big, strong donkey and Biscuit the tiny, playful dog. Every morning, Biscuit would wag his fluffy tail, making a delightful SWISH SWISH SWISH as he raced to greet the washerman. At the end of the day, he would curl up in the washerman’s lap, enjoying gentle scratches behind his ears. “What a GOOD little fellow you are!” the washerman would say, while Bruno watched from his cozy stable, feeling a heavy sigh escape his heart.
Bruno worked hard every day, carrying heavy bundles of laundry up steep hills and down dusty lanes. He stomped proudly along the path, but no one ever patted his ears or called him special. Instead, the weight of sadness settled on him like a thick blanket.
One magical night, as the moon cast a silver glow on the farm, sneaky thieves tiptoed closer, trying to steal the washerman’s things! But Biscuit’s ears perked up, and with a brave WOOF WOOF WOOF, he called out loudly! The washerman jumped from his bed, lantern in hand, and the thieves ran away in fright. The village buzzed with praise for Biscuit, but Bruno’s heart sank. “Why don’t they see how hard I work?” he thought.
Days turned into nights, and one evening, Bruno heard a mysterious RUSTLE RUSTLE! His heart raced. This was his chance! With a puffed-up chest, he opened his mouth and let out a loud, echoing “HEEE-HAW!" The washerman burst outside, worried, but found only the gentle wind rustling through the grass. “Silly donkey,” he chuckled, returning to bed. Bruno felt like a big, clumsy fool.
Just then, Biscuit padded over and sat beside him under the moonlight. “Bruno,” he said gently, “You keep everything running smoothly! You’re important!” Bruno looked at his strong hooves and felt a warm glow in his heart. He realized that everyone has their special role to play.
From that day on, Bruno wore a big smile, proud to be the hardworking donkey of the farm, knowing he was just as special as his little friend.
