In the middle of a sparkling pond, where the sun danced on the water and the reeds whispered secrets, a bright sign appeared on a lily pad: “Doctor Toad is here to heal!” The news zipped through the pond like a happy breeze, and soon, all the creatures gathered to see what this doctor could do.
Doctor Toad was quite a sight! He wore a cozy coat made of soft green moss and had a big, cheerful smile that shone like a star. He hopped to his special rock, his heart thumping with excitement. “Step right up!” he croaked, “I can fix it all!”
But one clever fox named Felix sat quietly on the bank, eyes twinkling with curiosity. Felix was known for being sharp-witted, and today, he wanted to see if Doctor Toad was as skilled as he claimed. As he watched, he noticed Doctor Toad’s skin was a mix of colors, his legs shook a bit, and one eye blinked much faster than the other.
With a sly smile, Felix hopped closer. “Doctor Toad,” he began politely, “if you can heal others, can you heal yourself?” Doctor Toad puffed up proudly. “Of course! I’m just fine!” he declared, a little too quickly.
Felix tilted his head, his voice smooth like water. “But if you can't mend your own troubles, how can you mend others'?” The pond fell silent. Doctor Toad glanced at his own wrinkled skin and crooked leg, doubt creeping into his heart.
The creatures whispered anxiously, “What if he gives me a wart?” “I want a doctor who can help himself!” They began to drift away, their excitement fading like the setting sun.
Feeling smaller than a pebble, Doctor Toad sat beside his sign, looking at the beautiful colors of the sky. Felix's words echoed in his mind. Maybe it was time to think about his own troubles, too.
As the stars twinkled above, Doctor Toad took a deep breath, hoping to heal not just others, but himself as well. With a heart full of dreams, he pictured a brighter tomorrow—where he could be a true healer, starting with his own heart.
