In a vibrant, green forest, there lived a big-hearted Wolf named Wallace. But oh, what a hungry wolf he was! Wallace would gobble up his meals like a whirlwind, forgetting to chew even the juiciest of berries. One sunny afternoon, after a feast of delicious treats, something terrible happened! A large bone got stuck sideways in his throat!
Wallace paced back and forth, making gurgling sounds that echoed through the trees. The other animals watched from behind bushes, eyes wide with worry. They knew Wallace could be grumpy when he was hungry and were too scared to help. After what felt like ages, Wallace decided he couldn't wait any longer. “I need help!” he called out, his voice raspy and desperate.
He searched high and low until he found Dr. Crane, a wise bird with a shiny, long neck. “Dr. Crane! Please help me! You’re the only one who can reach inside and pull out this bone!” Wallace begged, his eyes sparkling with hope. The Crane tilted her head, glimmering feathers catching the sunlight. “But Wallace,” she said, fluttering nervously, “your jaws are huge, and those sharp teeth look scary. How do I know you’ll reward me?”
“Trust me! You’ll get a grand treasure!” Wallace promised, his grin a mix of charm and mischief. The Crane took a deep breath, thinking of the glittering treasures she could find. With a flutter of courage, she stretched her neck and carefully dipped her beak into Wallace’s mouth. The darkness inside was frightening, but she pressed on. Finally, she found the stubborn bone! With a mighty tug, she pulled it loose!
Wallace howled in joy, his mouth now free! “Thank you, Dr. Crane! Now where’s my treasure?” she chirped, hope bubbling in her chest. Wallace’s teeth gleamed as he replied, “Your treasure is the bravery you showed by sticking your head inside a Wolf’s mouth! Isn’t that wonderful?”
The Crane’s eyes widened in shock. “But I… I helped you!” she exclaimed, watching as the Wolf trotted away, a sly grin on his face. “Goodbye!” he called back, leaving her bewildered in the clearing.
As she stood there, Dr. Crane realized that sometimes those who ask for help might not be grateful after all. With a thoughtful nod, she vowed to think twice before diving into danger again.
