The Truth-Telling Parrot

Cozy Bedtime Stories

A gentle bedtime tale to drift off to — warm, cozy, and full of sweet dreams.

In a big, cozy house filled with glittering treasures, there lived a kind merchant. His home sparkled with shiny vases, dazzling trinkets, and jewels that twinkled like stars in the sunlight. But oh no! One by one, his beloved treasures began to vanish, disappearing mysteriously like whispers in the wind. The merchant searched high and low—under fluffy rugs, behind swaying curtains, and inside tall cupboards—but it was as if the thief had vanished into thin air, leaving him more worried each day.

One sunny morning, while wandering through a bustling market, the merchant's eyes twinkled at something extraordinary in a little shop window. A magnificent parrot perched inside, its feathers swirling with colors like a rainbow, and its eyes sparkled like diamonds. A sign nearby cheerily announced, "This parrot can talk and remembers EVERYTHING it sees!" Excited, the merchant hurriedly bought the parrot and placed its golden cage in his living room, where it could keep watch over all his treasures.

One quiet afternoon, the maid tiptoed through the house, glancing around as if she was alone. Spotting a beautiful flower vase, she couldn't resist and quickly stuffed it under her apron. Just then, her mischievous son dashed in, snatched the vase, and zipped out the back door like a lightning bolt! But two watchful eyes had seen everything.

That evening, the merchant leaned in close to the parrot, his heart racing with excitement. "Did you see anything today?" he whispered. The parrot fluffed its feathers and replied in a sweet, clear voice, "The maid took the flower vase and gave it to her son. You will find it at their house!"

The maid gasped, realizing her sneaky secret was out! Desperate to trick the clever parrot, she splashed water through a sieve, banged on a drum, and flashed a shiny mirror, hoping to confuse it. But the next evening, the parrot recounted every single thing the maid had done, leaving the merchant with a knowing smile.

The maid's cheeks turned bright red as she realized she had been caught! From that day on, the house buzzed with laughter and honesty. The clever parrot sat happily in its cage, singing sweet songs that filled the sunlit afternoons with joy. And so, the merchant learned that even in the trickiest times, the truth always finds a way to shine bright, bringing light and happiness back to their home.
