In the sparkling royal court of Emperor Akbar, the sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow over the grand hall. The Emperor sighed deeply, his head resting on his hand, while his clever advisor, Birbal, tried to stifle a yawn. Even the glittering chandeliers seemed to droop, tired from the day’s events. Just as everyone thought it was time to call it a night, a loud BANG! echoed through the room. The doors flew open, and in rushed a flustered guard, his face as red as a ripe tomato.
“Your Majesty!” he panted, breathless with excitement. “A great scholar from the far South has come! He wants to challenge Birbal’s wisdom—RIGHT NOW!”
Akbar’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. “Let him in!” he exclaimed. With a grand sweep of his billowing robes, the tall scholar entered, standing proudly like a peacock. He bowed stiffly to the Emperor before turning to Birbal. “I have heard of your cleverness. Would you like to answer ONE difficult question or ONE HUNDRED easy ones?”
Thinking quickly, Birbal replied, “Just one difficult question, please!” The scholar cracked his knuckles loudly, making everyone lean in closer.
“Very well!” he boomed. “Here it is: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?”
Birbal smiled. “The chicken.”
“AHA!” the scholar declared. “And how can you prove it?”
With a twinkle in his eye, Birbal raised his hand. “But wait! We agreed on ONE question, and you’ve already asked it. Asking again breaks our agreement!”
The scholar's mouth flopped open and shut like a fish out of water, realizing he had trapped himself. Laughter erupted in the court, even making the tired Emperor smile. A humbled scholar bowed and slipped out quietly, leaving the court buzzing with joy.
Birbal turned to the Emperor, a playful grin on his face. “Shall we finally go home for dinner?”
With laughter bubbling like a bright fountain, the court left together, their happy chatter echoing into the night.
