In a land far, far away, under the shade of a shimmering willow tree, there lived a clever man named Sissa. One sunny afternoon, as colorful butterflies danced around him, Sissa had a spark of inspiration! He decided to create a magical game that would make everyone think and strategize. He carved beautiful pieces from smooth, polished wood and painted a stunning checkered board that glimmered like the stars.
With his heart racing, Sissa took his creation to the King, a jolly man with a love for games. When the King saw the elegant pieces and the shiny board, his eyes lit up like fireworks! He couldn't wait to play. As they moved the pieces, time flew like a tiny bird, and the King wove clever strategies with a smile. When he finished his game, he clapped his hands in delight. “What a marvelous game! Tell me, Sissa, what reward do you wish for? Gold? Jewels?”
Sissa bowed with a twinkle in his eye. “Just one grain of wheat on the first square, two on the second, and let the grains double on each square until the last!” The King chuckled, thinking it was a small request. “So modest! It shall be done!” he declared.
But as the treasury filled up, the numbers grew like a whirlwind! On the tenth square, there were five hundred and twelve grains. As they reached the twentieth square, whispers filled the air, and the room buzzed with worry. The King’s smile faded as he learned that by the fortieth square, they had more grain than the kingdom harvested in a year!
Finally, when they filled the sixty-fourth square, the amount was so huge it could feed an entire world! The King sat in stunned silence, realizing the wisdom behind Sissa’s simple request. He looked at Sissa with newfound respect, understanding that even the smallest ideas can blossom into something truly magnificent.
With a proud smile, the King appointed Sissa as his chief advisor, eager to learn from the man who had turned a tiny seed of thought into an extraordinary treasure.
