In a dazzling land where the sun sparkled like a million stars, every animal had a special job to do. The horse raced through golden fields, clopping along as he pulled the plow. The dog with floppy ears chased fluffy sheep, barking happily, “WOOF, WOOF!” And the strong ox dragged heavy carts, groaning with a mighty CREAK and GROAN. Each creature worked hard from morning until evening, creating a beautiful world together.
But in the shimmering desert, there was a lazy camel named Cammy. Instead of working like the others, he lounged by a sparkling pool, admiring his reflection. “Oh, what a splendid camel I am!” he sighed, soaking in the warm sun.
One day, the horse galloped over, his mane flowing like the wind. “Cammy! Come help us!” he pleaded, panting. But Cammy just replied, “Humph,” never taking his eyes off the water. Then, the playful dog bounded up, tongue out. “We really need you to lend a hoof!” he barked. Again, Cammy responded with a disinterested “Humph.” Finally, the ox trudged over, beads of sweat glistening on his back. “Cammy, it’s time to help out!” he said, frustrated. But Cammy simply shrugged, his eyes still fixed on his reflection.
The other animals, feeling worried, went to the Spirit of the Desert, a swirling figure of sparkling sand. She floated to Cammy and boomed, “Why won’t you help your friends?” Cammy started to say, “Hum—” but suddenly, a magical shimmer surrounded him! A great, round hump began to grow on his back, rising higher and higher. “From now on, this hump will carry all the food and water you need for your work!” the Spirit declared, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Cammy was shocked! “...Humph,” he whispered, feeling the weight of his new hump.
At first, he was embarrassed, but as he watched the other animals laughing and playing while they worked, he began to feel sad. Days passed, and Cammy decided to join in. With every task he completed, his hump felt lighter, and the joy of working together filled his heart.
Before long, Cammy discovered that helping his friends brought him happiness, and he never wanted to be lazy again. He learned that sharing the work made the world a brighter place, and he enjoyed every moment of it.
