Once upon a time, in a bright and cheerful farm in ancient India, there lived two playful calves named Big Red and Little Red. Each morning, as the sun peeked over the hill, it painted the sky with magical colors of orange and pink. The calves would stretch their legs and get ready for a busy day. They pulled the heavy plow through the rich, dark soil, HEAVE! Then, they would trot along dusty paths, hauling the bullock cart, CREAK! At the end of the day, they munched on sweet hay, feeling happy but a bit tired.
But there was one thing that made Little Red stomp his hooves in frustration. In their cozy barn lived a round little pig named No-squeal. No-squeal was always lounging in the sun, enjoying life while munching on the finest white rice and creamy porridge served in big steaming bowls. Little Red felt a green wave of envy wash over him. “Brother!” he exclaimed, snorting loudly. “It’s not fair! We work so hard, and that pig eats like a king!”
Big Red looked at his little brother with wise eyes. “Little one,” he said gently, “don’t let envy take over your heart. What No-squeal eats may not be as sweet as it seems.”
“What do you mean?” asked Little Red, tilting his head in curiosity.
“There’s a wedding coming soon,” Big Red explained. “They are fattening No-squeal for the feast. Soon, when the guests arrive, he will be taken away for the big celebration.”
Days passed, and excitement filled the air as colorful flowers were strung everywhere and laughter echoed across the farm. Then, on the wedding day, a grand parade of guests arrived, dressed in their finest clothes, their voices singing with joy. Suddenly, a loud squeal pierced the air, SQUEEEEEAL! No-squeal realized something was wrong as he was pulled away, his little legs kicking wildly.
Little Red watched in shock as No-squeal disappeared, leaving behind a heavy silence. Big Red turned to Little Red, his eyes filled with kindness. “Did you see? Our simple grass keeps us safe and gives us a long, happy life. His fancy meals led him to trouble.”
From that day, Little Red learned to cherish the simple pleasures of life on the farm. He discovered that the warmth of the sun, the taste of fresh grass, and the bond he shared with Big Red were far more precious than any shiny bowl of porridge. And so, the two calves lived joyfully, thankful for their honest and hardworking lives.
