The Tale of Prince Zayn and the Monster

Arabian Nights Tales

A classic tale retold for young readers — full of wonder, magic, and timeless wisdom.

In a faraway kingdom, whispers of a strange mystery floated through the warm desert air. Travelers along the forest road were vanishing like shadows at sunset. One moment they were there, and the next—gone! The worried king called his bravest soldiers to investigate, but all they found were abandoned shoes and forgotten bags scattered like fallen leaves.

Among them stood Prince Zayn, a young man with a heart full of courage and eyes that sparkled like stars. "Father," he said, "the monster only strikes those who wander alone. I will disguise myself as a merchant and discover the truth!" The king hesitated, but Zayn's spirit glowed with determination. The next morning, he donned plain robes and rode off on his trusty horse, ready for adventure.

As Zayn journeyed deeper into the whispering woods, shadows danced around him, and strange sounds echoed like distant thunder. Other travelers hurried past, their faces pale with fear. "Turn back!" they begged. "People vanish here!" But Zayn, with a brave smile, pressed on.

Suddenly, he spotted a beautiful girl by the road, her golden hair shimmering in the sunlight. "Please, kind merchant," she said, "I must reach the next town. My mother is sick. May I ride with you?" With a kind heart, Zayn agreed. As they rode, she spotted colorful flowers and asked to pick some. Zayn's heart raced as she wandered off behind a rock. Something was amiss!

Quietly, he followed her. Peeking around the boulder, he gasped! The lovely girl morphed into a fearsome ogress! Her green, scaly skin glimmered as she cackled, "Tonight we feast! A strong young man will make a delicious dinner!" Zayn's heart thumped, but he stood tall. When the ogress returned in her disguise, Zayn was ready. With a swift motion, he drew his hidden sword and shouted, “Not today!” The blade sparkled as it struck true, revealing her trick to everyone nearby.

The travelers gathered their courage, and together, they defeated the ogress and her monstrous friends, their laughter ringing like music through the trees. When Zayn returned to the castle, the kingdom erupted in cheers! The forest road was safe once more, and the king embraced his son, pride shining in his eyes. Zayn had shown that true bravery comes from the heart, lighting the way even when darkness loomed.
