Bruno the Bear woke up to a bright and beautiful morning in his magical forest. The air smelled like sweet flowers, and sunlight sparkled on the stream like diamonds. Even though Bruno’s tummy was full of juicy raspberries, he couldn’t stop dreaming about the sticky, golden honey that would make his day even sweeter!
With a bounce in his step, Bruno wandered deeper into the woods, sniffing the air for that delicious treat. Suddenly, he heard a soft, humming sound coming from a log lying on the ground like a cozy pillow. "Could it be a beehive?" Bruno thought, his eyes lighting up with excitement. He crept closer and pressed his big nose against the crack in the bark, imagining the sweet honeycomb hidden inside.
But just then, a tiny bee zoomed by, and when she saw Bruno’s enormous nose blocking her way, she didn’t hesitate! With a brave little buzz, she gave Bruno a sharp sting right on his nose! “Ouch!” he yelped, jumping back in surprise. His nose throbbed, and tears filled his eyes. Instead of walking away, Bruno’s anger grew. “How dare you sting me!” he roared, shaking the forest.
Fueled by fury, Bruno pounded the log with his massive paws. Suddenly—CRACK! The log split wide open, and a whirlwind of angry bees burst out, buzzing like a storm! “Run!” Bruno shouted, as he sprinted through bushes and splashed into the stream, the swarm buzzing behind him. Stings rained down on his ears, paws, and fluffy tail!
In a last-ditch effort, Bruno leaped into the deep pond, diving under until only his nose peeked above the water. The buzzing faded, and he held his breath, feeling scared and a bit silly. When it was quiet, he climbed out, dripping wet and stung all over, without a single drop of honey.
Sitting on the bank, Bruno took a deep breath, watching the sparkling stream. He thought about the delicious raspberries he had enjoyed earlier. “Maybe they were enough,” he whispered, realizing that sometimes it’s better to let little things slide than to let anger lead to big trouble.
With the sun warming his back and the sweet scent of flowers filling the air, Bruno smiled. He might not have had honey, but he did have the wonderful memory of those juicy berries—and that made his heart feel full.
