In the lively city of Vijayanagara, where the sun painted the rooftops a golden hue, a colorful pundit arrived, draped in so many flower garlands that he looked like a walking rainbow! His bright eyes sparkled like stars as he burst into the royal court, announcing, “I know every book in every language! I challenge all the scholars here!” His booming voice echoed like thunder, sending the king’s wise men scurrying with drooped turbans, fearing defeat.
The king sighed, “Is there no one brave enough to face this boastful man?” Just then, a hand shot up from the back! It was Tenali Raman, known for his clever tricks and twinkling laughter. The next morning, Tenali appeared with two helpers who lugged a giant, shiny bundle that thudded onto the floor with a dramatic boom. The crowd gasped, guessing what treasure was hidden inside.
With a cheeky grin, Tenali declared, “Let’s debate the wisdom of the legendary text — Tila-Kashta-Mahisha-Bandhana!” The pundit’s smile faltered, and he trembled. He had never heard of that text! “Uh, I need a night to remember it!” he stammered, panic rising like a bubble. “Absolutely!” chuckled Tenali, winking at the crowd.
That night, the pundit tossed and turned, sending messengers racing like lightning to find answers, but nobody knew anything! As dawn approached, fear gripped him. He packed his bags and sneaked away, leaving before the roosters could crow.
The king arrived, puzzled by the empty chair where the pundit should be. “What’s in the bundle?” he asked, eyes gleaming with excitement. Tenali unveiled it with a flourish. WHOOSH! Mustard stalks, sheep droppings, and a thick rope tumbled out! “Tila: mustard. Kashta: dry fuel. Mahisha: buffalo. Bandhana: rope! Just an amusing bundle of nonsense, Your Majesty!”
Laughter erupted like fireworks, filling the hall with joy. The king shook his head, chuckling heartily. “Only you could outsmart a proud scholar with farm waste, Tenali!” He rewarded Tenali with a purse of gold coins that jingled like a happy tune. The court learned that sometimes, a little humor can uncover the truth, and even the wisest among us have things to learn.
