In a vibrant palace filled with laughter and shimmering colors, there lived a clever man named Birbal, who was the best friend of Emperor Akbar. But not everyone in the palace liked Birbal; some jealous courtiers cooked up a sneaky plan to get rid of him. They found help from the royal barber, who chatted with the Emperor while trimming his beard.
One sunny day, as the barber snipped away, he sighed, “Your Majesty, your father was such a great king! I used to shave him, you know.” Intrigued, Akbar leaned in. “Really? What a wonderful king he was!”
The barber whispered, “Maybe you could hear from him in heaven! There’s a powerful magician who can send someone there through a magical fire, but it must be someone wise—like Birbal!” Akbar’s eyes lit up with excitement. “What a fantastic idea!” he exclaimed, calling for Birbal.
Birbal agreed to this magical mission, but he had two requests: a whole month to prepare and a bag of shiny gold coins. Eager to see his father again, Akbar agreed without a second thought.
Under the cover of night, Birbal and his helpers dug a secret tunnel from the fireplace to his home. Finally, the big day arrived! A roaring fire blazed as Birbal stepped into the flames, but instead of vanishing, he snuck through his secret tunnel back to his cozy house!
After six months, Birbal returned to the palace, his hair and beard wild like a jungle explorer! The Emperor laughed heartily, “Birbal! What news do you bring from my father?”
With a mischievous grin, Birbal replied, “Your father is doing splendidly! He just wishes there were better barbers in heaven! He wants YOUR barber to come!”
The barber turned ghostly pale, and the scheming courtiers fell silent. With trembling hands, the barber confessed everything, revealing their plot against Birbal. From that day on, the palace was filled with joy and friendship, and no one dared to plot against Birbal again, as they all learned the value of loyalty and kindness.
