In a magnificent palace glittering with gold and sparkling jewels, there lived a wise Emperor named Akbar. His court was a colorful wonderland filled with blooming gardens, singing birds, and the fastest horses in the land! One sunny afternoon, a merchant arrived, his eyes gleaming like the treasures he sold. With a heart full of flattery, he bowed so low that his nose nearly tickled the floor. “Oh, great Emperor!” he proclaimed, “Your robes shine brighter than the sun! Your beard is as fluffy as the softest cloud! Your wisdom is deeper than the ocean, and your horses gallop faster than lightning!”
But Emperor Akbar's face was as still as a statue, unbothered by the flattery. Determined to impress, the merchant shouted, “You are greater than even the greatest God!” GASP! The court fell silent, as still as the night sky. Akbar’s brow furrowed, his curiosity sparkling like stars. “Did everyone hear that? If I am truly greater than God, then why?”
The courtiers exchanged worried glances, their hearts racing like wild horses. If they agreed, they would insult God. If they disagreed, they'd anger the Emperor! One by one, they fell silent, tight-lipped.
Finally, Akbar turned to his clever friend Birbal, who was wise and brave. “What do you say, Birbal?” he asked. With a twinkle in his eye, Birbal replied, “Your Majesty, the merchant speaks the truth! You are indeed greater than God!” The court gasped in disbelief.
“How can that be true?” Akbar exclaimed, his eyebrows dancing with surprise. “Simple!” said Birbal, grinning widely. “God cannot banish anyone from His kingdom because the universe is all His! But YOU, dear Emperor, can banish anyone from YOUR kingdom!”
Laughter erupted like fireworks! The courtiers cheered, and even Akbar chuckled, his anger fading like mist in the morning sun. But then, the Emperor turned to the merchant, and his smile vanished like a shadow. “And as for you, my friend, you are BANISHED!”
The merchant's jaw dropped as guards whisked him away, leaving him speechless. The palace filled with joy once more, reminding everyone that cleverness can turn tricky questions into delightful answers, leaving them all buzzing with excitement and wonder!
