One by one, the suitors fell behind, panting and stumbling as she danced through the air. Just then, Hippomenes, who had come to watch, was enchanted by Atalanta’s speed. He knew he could never outrun her alone. That night, he sought the help of Aphrodite, the beautiful goddess of love. She appeared in a shimmer of sparkles and gifted him three golden apples. “Use these wisely,” she said, before disappearing in a swirl of magic.
